Destruction Time!!

My litho plate buckled in the press which originally was not so good but in the end-exellent!  It made perfect since, it was bugging me that my sea images were too calm and weren´t getting the concept across but once it was crushed, it worked perfectly!

 

So I decided to started manipulating my materials, first starting with paper, taking my final animation drawing and just balling it up, playing with perspective and really make it 3D.

The most satisfying part was yet to come...ALUMINIUM! I love it! Screenprinted my cages onto metal and....

After I varnished my screenprint on Aluminium it was nice and perfect......so I took it outside and as you can see...had quite alot of fun!

That wasn´t enough so I took the blow torch to it, which gave amazing results in colour which i am really happy with!!

Cage!!

The adventure of the cage all began with photolithography! Below is my photolithograph of my cage drawing.

Quick Animation experiments

This animation plays with negative thoughts that trap someone when they are depressed. Text manicly appears light covering text, crossing it out and rewriting over it. This mimics the pattern of negative thinking that repeats itself when someone gets sucked into a pattern of negative thiking.
The animation below starts with a isolated image of a pier and slowly text comes into the animation. More sublte though! These are just quick animations to get some of the ideas going :)

Playing with abstraction through photography and capturing the open space of the sea.

I went to Bana beach to collect some more imagery. I don´t want to create landscapes but I do want to capture that amazing feeling of being by the water. The open space and being able to see for miles I love it! These photos play alot with angles. I want the work to be about change and challenging how depression distorts someones vision and what they see. This is why many of the photos are at an angle where you mostle see the ground but light is coming through from the corner. The images are slight disorientating but are positive because they are filled with light. I hope to experiment with these through Monoprinting and photo lithography. 

 

Sea sea sea!!

First prints back after Christmas!! Wanted to start working with the the power of the sea as a metaphor for Change. Obviously using the sea as a methaphor has been done a million times but i gotta explore it! I used the Sea as the theme for a Commision i got before Christmas. There was no limit in size so it ended up being 3 metres! Below are some pics :)

Charcoal Animation

 

The struggle between light and dark is at the centre of the project. Charcoal is an appropriate medium as it can achieve this contrast effectively through building up layers and using erasure. The ideas that are represented in the prints are brought to life through movement within the animations.
